Dear Secondary Science Teacher Certification Candidates,

In order for you to complete teacher certification requirements at Queens College (other than finishing your teacher preparation program), you must also complete 5 seminars. It is strongly recommended that all candidates complete the workshops prior to any student teaching assignment. No candidate will be recommended for certification without successfully completing all workshops.

    1. Child Abuse, Prevention and Intervention
    2. School Violence Prevention and Intervention
    3. School Safety (which consists of Fire and Arson, Child Abduction, and Safety on the Highways)
    4. Alcohol and Substance Abuse
    5. Dignity for All Students Act Seminar – Harassment, Bullying, and Discrimination Prevention and Intervention

NOTE:  Fingerprinting is required by the New York City Department of Education (for student teaching and employment) and by the New York State Department of Education (for certification purposes). Please be sure both systems have your fingerprints on file.
